Evening Indoor Meetings

The Club holds monthly indoor meetings during the winter months. They are typically illustrated talks featuring a prominent local or national speaker followed by a discussion.  Non-members are welcome.

All meetings start at 7.30pm and take place at Cley Village Hall (NR25 7RJ) which is on Fairstead in Cley. If you don't know where it is click here for a map.   There is a large car-park. Please enter the Hall through the main entrance, the Social Club, where some most meetings are held, is then through the main hall.

Admission is £1 per person (except where stated otherwise) and all members and non-members are welcome.

10th January - Scandinavia- Taiga and Tundra (A look at the birds, other wildlife and the ecology of the area)

Dave Horsley is well known as a wild-life speaker and lecturer with extensive experience gained from visits to Scandinavia and many other countries. He was head of biology at Gresham’s and as an enthusiastic photographer and biologist his talks are always informative and visually stimulating. 

15th February - Desperately Seeking Sylvia
Dave Cottridge’s talk Desperately Seeking Sylvia , relates to the work he did as the field photographer and
photographic editor for ‘The Identification of Sylvia Warblers’ Dave is a renowned photographer and in
1983 he won British Birds magazine ‘Bird Photograph of the Year’ with a photograph of a Red-necked
Phalarope taken on the island of Fetlar in Shetland. In 1987 he joined the newly formed Limosa Holidays
team, who specialised in bird tours (now one of the leading companies in Europe). He led many bird
watching trips to destinations around the world. From 1986–2006 he worked as photographer and
photographic editor on fourteen books, and his work was also published in many magazines.
